Brideview Utd Schoolboy/Schoolgirl AFC Notes

Utd Win Local Derby
U14 League: Brideview Utd 2, Lismore 0
An early goal for Utd scored by Mark Dalton put Utd on the road to victory here in Tallow on Tuesday night of last week.  The game itself was keenley fought with both sides creating chances.  Utds keeper Shane Martin twice denied Lismore in the opening half while at the other end Eaton Scotton, Jake O'Brien, Cian Hurley and Tom Dalton all went close to increasing Utds lead.  However at the break Dalton's goal seperated the sides.  The other twin Tom Dalton got on the scoresheet in the 49th min but the visitors tried hard to find a way against a strong Utds defence of Roche, Hurley and Costello.  Midfielders The Dalton brothers, Tom and Mark, Alex O'Dowd and Alan Hurley made sure there was plenty of ball going into O'Brien and Scotton who tormented the visitors defence.  A good win here for Utd to add to that orher victory in Ardmore.

Utd Squad: S Martin, S Roche, D Spillane, C Hurley, M Dalton, T Dalton, E Costello, E Scotton, A O'Dowd, J O'Brien, C Lenenhan, C O'Brien,
I Martin, D mcCarthy Thompson.

The Mammies
One spectator who was late getting to the match asked the mammies what was the score?  We are 1-0 up they said.  Who scored asked the spectator?  We don't know we were talking.  They would not even make a cup of tea.  Why?  They were too busy chatting.  Well its not often they meet.  Ha! Ha!.

U12 League:  Defeat for Utd.  Inch 5, Brideview Utd 1
The East Cork side proved too strong for our U12 side on Wednesday night last.  Utd went in fromt thanks to a great Stephen Murphy volley early in the first half.  We should have added a few more goals before Inch got on top and went in leading 3-1 at the break.  They added two further goals in the second half and despite some good work from Utds players we failed to add to our first half goal.  never mind lads there is always the next game.
Utds Panel: A Good, I Martin, C O'Brien, A Hurley, C Lenenhan, E Potter, J McDonnell, C McCarthy, S Murphy, C Bowes.

We wish Josh Good  a speedy recovery.  Josh was injured last week and we hope to see him back in action soon.

To Mairead Sheehan who celebrated her birthday on Saturday night last.  The food well the only thing I can say is that it was out of this world.  We all put on pounds and a good night was had by all.

Charity Night
A charity night will take place in The Corner House the first Saturday in October.  The music will be by Dinny Cunningham and the Sunset Sound.  This band and we expect "House Full" signs early in The Corner House.  Now I wounder who the guests will be.  Will the twin take to the stage or the boy from Woodview Park.  More on this next week.

Yes we congratulate Jordan Henley who was the goalkeeper for the Waterford U21 team that defeated Galway in The All Ireland.  Jordan kept a clean sheet so he can feel very proud.  Jordan was a former player with club and we wish him well in his sporting career ahead.  Well done also to Colum Roche of th Shamrocks who was also on the team and a former Utd player.

Love In The Air
Congratulations to Richie Rohan and Gillian Frewen who got married last week.  Best wishes and many happy years ahead for both of you. From all in Utd.
