Brideview Utd AFC Schoolboy/Girl Notes

McGrath and Dalton on Fire
Yes our U17 team had another terrific win in Cappoquin with our twin strikers on fire, scoring all seven goal between them.  Our U12 team travelled to Kilworth and were unlucky to go down against the homeside.

U12 Premier League
Kilworth Celtic 2 Brideview Utd 0
This was a very good game of football between two sides hoping to do well this season.  The first half saw the homeside go in front and they held this lead till the break.  Utd tried hard to get back on level terms in the second half with Stephan Murphy, Taylor Twohig and Aidan Murphy all going close.  As we know when a team is chasing an equaliser gaps can be left at the back and Celtic took advantage on a quick breakaway and grabbed a second to run out winners and bring Utds winning run to an end.

Utd: A.Good, J. McDonnell, J. Morrissey, L. Tobin, Kuba Grizdo, S. Murphy, B. Murphy, T. Twohig, C. Henley, B. Grey, J. Henley, A. Cantwell.

U17 League
Cappoquin 2 Brideview Utd 7
Again no shortage of goals here.  Our twin strike force of eoin Mc Grath and Mark Dalton were on top form on Saturday scoring all seven goals between them.  Mc Grath hit four while Dalton grabbed a hat trick.  The homeside went into an early lead after just 4 min when some slack work by Utds defence left the homeside in for a rather soft goal.  As the half wore on Utd come more into the game.  Mc Grath scored the equaliser in the 31st min and Dalton added number two for Utd in the 42nd min.  This goal saw Utd to in leading 2-1 at the break.  Utd added two more goals inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half.  The first from Dalton and the second from Mc Grath.  Mc Grath was in again in the 68th min with Dalton grabbing his hat trick after 73 min.  Cappoquin pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 75th min.  Mc Grath rounded off the scoring in the 77th min when he scored his fourth goal.  A good win for Utd here that sees them on top of the league but there is a long road ahead.

Utd: T. Dalton, E. Lenehan, C. Hurley, D. Beecher, J. Chambers, P. Hynes, J. Sheehan, K. Crawford, B. Aherne, M. Dalton, Eoin Mc Grath.

Best Wishes
To Eoin Lenehan who picked up a knock early on in the game.  Hopefully Eoin will be back on his feet for our next game.

Referee
Referee Eamonn Cusack handled the game well and to be fare to the boys on both teams they were overall well behaved.

Birthday Greetings
To young Callum Geary who celebrated a big three last weekend.  Then we had Jack Henley who is growing old at 10 years of age.  Right Jack.  But birthday of the week last weekend went to the old fellow who was a big 40 years.  Yes Thomas Mulcahy who is home from Boston in the USA and had a party in Clancys bar on Friday.  So well done to Callum, Jack and Tomas.

Forgot
Yes I forgot to mention the girls and the boys (medals) who were on the Out on The Town last week.  One of the girls was a bit dissapointed as she thought the photo was for page 3.  Maybe the boys in "The Leader" will see what they can do for next week.  Ha! Ha!

Fixtures for next Saturday 7th October
U13 league Division One.  Brideview Utd V Ballybridge Utd, K.Off 11 am.

Big week fo Rep. of Ireland
Are we going to Russia for the World Cup.  Well we will know that next week as by then we will have played Moldova and Wales.  We should prove to be too strong for Moldova in the Aviva on Friday night despite being short some regulars.  Over 10,000 fans looked for tickets for the Walses game but we just got 3,500 for this game.  A big few days for the fans who again will see many locals in the Aviva on Friday night. Come on you boys in green.

U12 & U19 games
The Rep. of Ireland play two U21 games in Tallaght Staduim this week while the U19's have three games in the R.S.C on this Wednesday, Saturday and Tuesday 10th October.  Some of these games kick off during the day.
