Brideview United AFC Schoolboy Notes.
Round Tower Hotel Ardmore U11C League Final.

McDonnell's Hat Trick Not Enough.
A Hat trick here from Jack McDonnell was not enough to clinch a league final for Brideview on Saturday afternoon in Clashmore.  Eoin McGrath was back to his best scoring four goals on Thursday night last to put Blackwater United finto a cup final.
Results: U11C League Final.
Cappoquin 6,  Brideview Utd 3
The result here was in doubt going into the final 10 minutes  as both sides served up a highly entertaining game.  Cappoquin went 2-0 in front early in the first half and looked to be coasting to victory.  However McDonnell had other ideas!!  Acorner kick in the 22nd minute saw the ball bouncing in the Cappoquin area and McDonnell shot home from close range.  Steven Murphy had a great effort just go wide in the 26th minute. Two minutes later the sides were level when McDonnell struck goal number two for Utd.  It remained 2-2 at the break.

McDonnell put United in front for the first time 2 minutes into t6he second half and now we had a real cracker of a game.  Cappoquin went back in front in the 32nd min, Kenneallys cross in the 34th minute was shot just over by Henley.  Good shot wide in the 40th minute, a free to Cappoquin in the 42nd minute ended up in Utds net.  Still our lads did not give up and Good was again unlucky in 45th minute when his shot grazed the post.  Cappoquin added goal number six just before the final whistle.  A great game here and our lads played their part here in making a game of it.  So well done your turn will come.
Utd squad all played:  A.Good, J.Henley, S.Martin, C.O'Brien, J. McDonnell, J. Good, C. Lenehan, W.Kenneally, A.Hurley, C. McGrath, C.Bowes, S.Murphy, C.McCarthy.  So well done to Cappoquin.
Presentation:  The presentation of Shield and medals to both sides was done by Chairman of the W.W.E.C League Brian Donnelly.

W.W.E.C/TSSDL.  U16 Cup Semi Final
McGrath The Hero.  Blackwater United 5, Burncourt/vee Rovers 2.
Tallow lad Eoin Mcgrath was the hero here for United when he grabbed four of the five goals.  Two of these goals were terrific goals.  The first where he chipped the advancing keeper to his fourth goal and Utds fifth which came in the 72nd when he shot low into the corner giving Rovers keeper no chance.  Utd squad at the end of these notes.

Academy Day: In Castlelyons
A hugh crowd of parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters turned up for our annual academy day.  The sun shone brightly with just one shower.  Its a kids day and when one sees them getting their photo and medal one can see the enjoyment for the boys and girls.  The games are all fun games so we see no tears as everyone gets a medal.  Our boys scored plenty of goals here but I will not name them in case I leave one out.

The Next Party
I think this may be going to Cork but I will have some spies keeping an eye on the hotels.  It could be this Saturday night.

Thanks
To Dymphna, Donna, and Fiona for drawing the winning tickets for the Euro's.  We congradulate our local winner Lucy Donnelly.  Lucy cannot make it to France but she has already sold the tickets.  Well done Lucy.  The other winners were in Meath & Carlow.

Congratulations
To our Junior team on winning The Tony Bolger Cup for the fifth time in a row.  Brian (Basher) told his good wife and myself that he has played his last game for April 2016.  He is aslo looking for a new contract for 2017.  As soon as possible so he can then plan his party in November.  My God Basher is never 50 is he John Paul.
