Brideview Utd AFC 19/09/2016

Brideview Utd. AFC Schoolboy/Schoolgirl U16 League:

Home win for United
Blackwater United 3 Clashmore Ramblers 2

A five goal thriller here and the game was in the melting pot right up to the final whistle.  Blackwater made up of players from Brideview Utd. and Cappoquin overcame a strong challenge from the visitors.
With five clubs from the W.W.E.C. involved in the division it should be an interesting league.  It is also hoped to have a cup competition with clubs from the TSSDL league which should keep the clubs busy for the season.

Back to the game, Utd took the lead in the 6th minute when Cunningham set up Fogarty to score.  Wright and Lommano both went close to adding to this goal but both were just wide.  Ramblers struck for an equaliser after 15mins but in the 20th minute Wright restored Utd's lead with a fine goal.  Fogarty was unlucky in the 30th minutewhen his fine volley came back off the post and the sides went in at the break with Utd leading 2-1.

Clashmore took the game to Utd early in the second half as they looked for another equaliser.  Twice in the opening ten minutes did the crossbar rescue Utd.  Then Utd stretched their lead in the 50th minute Wright beat two defenders before crossing a terrific ball to Fogarty who shot to the net.
The Ramblers pulled a goal back in the 58th minute and it was now wide open.  Wright had a great free kick for Utd. that came crashing back off the crossbar and was cleared.
A very sporting game here and Keith Hornibrook the referee had a good night at the office thanks to the two teams playing football.

Utd's Squad all played: Robert O'Connor, Evan Murray, William Cunningham, Gavin Fives, Dean Beecher, Louie Lammano, Michael Fogarty, Bernard Wright, Jamie O'Hara, Joas Almeida, Killian O'Connor
